At the core of CHAMPS is a dedicated team committed to transforming maternal and child health outcomes globally. The Network consists of senior scientists who lead teams in each CHAMPS site, working in collaboration with Program Office staff based in the US and in Africa. CHAMPS is advised by a Global Partners Board, made up of a diverse group of global health leaders.
CHAMPS operates in nine countries—Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and South Africa—with a Program Office in the United States.

CHAMPS PROGRAM OFFICE
Child Health And Mortality Protection Surveillance (CHAMPS) is a global surveillance network that generates and shares accurate information on causes of stillbirths and child deaths in high-mortality settings in Africa and South Asia. Working closely with communities and their leaders, CHAMPS teams work quickly to identify deaths and, with a family’s consent, uses innovative diagnostic methods to investigate the causes. Findings help families improve the health of their children. CHAMPS provides data to local, national, and global health leaders to improve policies and programs and drive investments to save lives.
The CHAMPS Progam Office is located in Atlanta, Georgia
CHAMPS envisions a world where evidence-based interventions offer every child an equal chance to thrive.
The CHAMPS network uses innovative approaches to generate and share knowledge that improves understanding and prevention of child mortality.
Identify and track definitive causes of stillbirths and child mortality
Disseminate and communicate CHAMPS findings
Use Data for Action
Enhance operational efficiency for network excellence
CHAMPS provides trusted, evidence-based data on child mortality, informing policy, public health practice, and health system changes.
